Feurio Questions & Answers - Questions on
CD-TEXT:
WinOnCd shows CD-Text - but Feurio! doesn't?
Question: WinOnCD shows that a (pressed) CD contains CD-Text. If I read in
the same CD in Feurio!, no CD-TEXT is shown; is this a mistake in Feurio!?
Answer: No. WinOnCD "cheats" a bit here: WinOnCD has got an internal database
with CD titles (similar to the CDDB database). If WinOnCD finds the CD in its
internal database, then WinOnCD displays the data from the database - it then
looks as if there were CD-TEXT on the CD - unfortunately as far as I know you
can NOT tell whether the data shown is CD-TEXT data OR taken from the database.
COMMENT: However it is also possible that the Feurio! has not recognized the
CD-ROM used as being CD-TEXT capable. In this case you can activate reading CD-TEXT
information in the Feurio! CD-Manager by selecting the entry "Program parameters"
in the menu: "Program", here select the respective CD-ROM in the index card "Device
parameters", click on "Special parameters" and here select the index card "Special
parameters" and in this index card activate the switch "Read CD-Text information".
Question: I burned a CD on a recorder with WinOnCD, which according to Feurio!
is not CD-Text capable. If I now insert the burned CD and start WinOnCD, WinOnCD
shows CD-Text information, is the writer CD-TEXT capable after all?
Answer: No. WinOnCD saves the data in a database and when the CD is inserted
again, it shows the data from the database - it then looks like there is CD-text
on the CD - unfortunately as far as I know you can NOT tell whether the data
shown is CD-TEXT data or whether it is from the database.
