Recommended CD-ROM?
Question: Which CD-ROM do you recommend
for reading audio data "perfectly"?
Answer:
Currently there is only one CD-ROM, which we can only recommend 100%:
PLEXTOR ULTRAPLEX 40!
The UltraPlex 40 reads Audio-CDs at 14 to 24-times speed - and that without errors!
Furthermore it reads CD-TEXT and returns C2 errors and supports reading index
marks.
The read speed can also be adjusted in many steps (14 to 24, 8, 4, 2, 1-times).
We have exhaustively tested this drive and it definitely provides the best data.
Question: Is there also an IDE CD-ROM which you can recommend?
Answer: There are no doubt many CD-ROMs which also read audio data well. But
so far we have not found one we can recommend without reservation - either the
data was not always 100% correct or the CD-ROM was too slow - or other features
were missing (reading index marks, CD-TEXT, returning C2 errors, regulation of
the read speed).
